Passage: process of moving through, transition from one state to another
Time: the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future as whole
1. It is evident that the history of fashion always repeats itself. What is new “now” is usually coming from the past. The book represents the history as a whole.
2. Young Dorothy represents the past, and the silhouette of an old lady with cane represents the present. The rusty train station represents the passage, which was once a brand new train station. Dorothy is wondering about how her future is going to be, and her future figure, which is a present now is standing halfway the passage. The endless time is represented in the long endless train station.
